The part of full shower re-tiling service is normally carried out in conjunction with our waterproofing services.
Why are hollow loose or cracked tiles a problem within a shower?
One of the critical first lines of defense from water in a shower is the grout, sealants and tiles. Should you have hollow loose tiles within your shower then this will eventually allow the tile to move, which will intern break apart grouts or sealants. Once this happens then water is free to penetrate in behind or under the tiles. Over time this will this will break down the glue used to bond the tiles which will allow more tiles to come loose and or crack. The longer this is left then more an more tiles will come loose. We often inspect showers where by the tiles have either all fallen from the walls in one sheet or they are ready to fall off the walls. Also water can soak into and start to break down the cement bed below the tiles. Once the cement bed breaks down then regardless of the condition of the waterproofing the shower will need part or full waterproofing and tiling services, replacing the cement bed at the same time.
