Why is the structural side of a shower so important?
Regardless of how amazing the waterproofing, tiling, re-grouting and sealing work, they are all reliant on the structural integrity of the areas below and behind the shower. If the support timbers and or sheeting have rotted out behind or under the shower then this will potentially cause movement that could break apart any waterproofing, grouts and or sealants over time. In the worst case scenarios we have seen showers that have literally fallen through the roof because of damage below the shower.
This is why it is so important to fix the damages when and if they are identified, rather than pretending that they are not there at all. All too often we see showers that have been completely re-waterproofed and tiled by other companies, costing thousands, yet they fail within a short period of time simply because the damages behind or under the shower were not repaired at the same time.
