How It Works

While our primary focus is on sealing leaking showers across the Gold Coast without removing tiles using our Ultra Bond Technology Shower Sealing System, there are situations where the damage is too extensive for a tile-free repair. This may be due to excessive loose or cracked tiles, significant underlying damage, or a failed waterproofing membrane. In these cases, partial or full shower waterproofing and retiling, or a complete shower renovation, may provide the most appropriate long-term solution.

Our detailed on-site inspection is designed to identify all potential leak sources, including tiles, grout, sealants, junctions, drains, shower screens, failed waterproofing and any suspected structural issues beneath or behind the shower. Following the inspection, we’ll provide our findings, recommended works and a detailed quote specific to your shower, allowing you to make an informed decision.
Where replacement of the waterproofing membrane is required, the shower screen must first be removed to access the area beneath the tiles and cement bed. Depending on the quoted scope of works, part or all of the shower tiles, cement bed and, where applicable, the shower hob will be removed. Any underlying damage is then repaired before the shower is prepared for the installation of a new waterproofing membrane.
Once preparation is complete, part or all of the shower is waterproofed to Australian Standards. Where required, a new shower hob and cement bed are installed before the shower is partially or fully retiled in accordance with the quoted scope of works. The area is then regrouted and sealed, with a new shower screen typically installed as the final stage of the project.

What We Fix

Gold Coast showers face a unique combination of coastal humidity, salt air, and the daily wear that comes with regular use — all of which can place additional strain on the waterproofing membrane sitting beneath your tiles and cement bed. Once this layer becomes compromised, water typically begins presenting as staining, dampness, or visible damage in the walls, floors, or ceilings surrounding the shower.

For every Gold Coast shower we inspect, our starting point is always to determine whether our Ultra Bond Technology Shower Sealing System can resolve the issue without touching a single tile — minimising cost and disruption wherever possible. However, where a shower has deteriorated significantly, with extensive loose or cracked tiles, underlying substrate damage, or clear signs of waterproofing failure, full shower waterproofing and tiling, or a complete renovation, may be the only appropriate path forward.

Shower Waterproofing FAQs, Gold Coast

Shower sealing involves restoring grout, sealants, and common leakage areas at the surface level. Shower waterproofing refers to the waterproofing membrane installed beneath the tiles during construction. While sealing can be highly effective in many situations, it is not the same as replacing a waterproofing membrane.

Common signs include water stains, damp smells, swollen skirting boards, wet flooring near the bathroom, loose tiles, recurring moisture issues, and visible water damage around the shower area.

No. Using our Ultra Bond Technology Shower Sealing System, we can seal up to 95% of leaking showers without removing tiles where suitable. However, if waterproofing replacement is required, tile removal will generally be necessary.

Common causes include poor installation, inadequate waterproofing coverage, age-related deterioration, structural movement, construction defects, and water bypassing the waterproofed area.

Yes. Humidity, coastal conditions, salt air, moisture exposure, and daily shower use can accelerate deterioration of grout, sealants, and other shower components over time.

Shower Sealed provides shower waterproofing services throughout all Gold Coast suburbs, including Southport, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Robina, Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach, Currumbin, Coomera, Helensvale, and surrounding areas.
